FLUORIDE'S LINK TO BONE DISEASES

To understand why fluoride contributes to bone diseases we need to appreciate the fact that our bones are part of our living organism; bones are alive, they grow, they repair, they can become diseased and that disease can be reversed over time. We read that healthy COLLAGEN is the key living material that maintains, and restores health to our bones.

Research shows that consumption of fluoride interferes with the production of COLLAGEN and causes it to malfunction in many ways. This imperfect COLLAGEN disrupts the cells that lay down bone, tendons, ligaments, muscles and other soft tissues. Cumulative damage to these cells leads to arthritis, arteriosclerosis, brittle bones, wrinkled skin, osteoporosis, and scleroderma. Fluoride's disruptive effects on collagen in soft tissues may also set off other diseases such as muscular dystrophy, rheumatoid arthritis and lupus.

In a 1990 study, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, it was found that increasing the concentration of fluoride in water from 0 to 1 ppm would increase the hip fracture rate by 40%. Five major studies from France, the UK and the US show higher rates of hip fractures in fluoridated regions.

In Fluoridated areas there has been a dramatic increase of osteosarcoma (bone cancer) in young males aged between 9 -19. A National Cancer Institute Surveillance Epidemiology and End Results Program recorded an increase of 79% of osteosarcomas in young men living in fluoridated areas of Iowa and Seattle. In the unfluoridated areas the incidence of bone cancer decreased by 4%.

In New Jersey, rates of osteosarcoma were three to seven times higher among males aged between 10-19 than in unfluoridated regions.

A 1944 editorial in the Journal of the American Dental Association (JADA) states: "We do know that the use of drinking water containing as little as 1.2 to 3ppm of fluorine will cause such developmental disturbances in bones as osteosclerosis, spondylosis and osteopetrosis, as well as goiter". The US Public Health Service has stated that fluoride makes the bones more brittle and the dental enamel more porous.

An increasing number of scientific researchers, including doctors and dentists warn that fluoride is proving to be as destructive to human and total environmental health as DDT, Thalidomide, Deildrin, 245-T, Asbestos, Dioxin and more recently with Vioxx! These toxic chemicals that were eventually shown to be harmful or deadly were not compulsory and therefore avoidable. Adding fluoride to our water supply amounts to mass compulsory medication and therefore is virtually unavoidable!

Fluoride accumulates in the body and, over time, disrupts the body's natural functions causing disease. Fluoride is added to toothpaste, mouthwash, dentist's treatment, fluoride pills, Teflon and Tefal coated items such as frying pans.

Fluoridated water results in increased amounts of fluoride in foods and drinks produced using that water.

The so-called “safe” amount of fluoride ingested is exceeded in fluoridated areas.
